Our ‘Meet the Team’ series is designed so that you can get to know us friendly folk at GKD a little bit better.
Next up, we’ve got our Quality Engineer, Juan.
What’s your name, job title and how long have you been at GKD?
Hi, I’m Juan Goncalves! I have been with GKD since January 2018, so I’ve been here almost 4 years. I’m a Quality Engineer.
Before you joined GKD where did you work / what did you do?
Before coming to England, in Venezuela I worked as a presale engineer (focused on the low-middle voltage electrical engineering market). After that, I worked as a maintenance engineer in one of the skyscrapers in Caracas called Mercantil tower.
What do you like about your job?
Every single engineer in the world loves fixing things and I’m not an exception! Working in the quality world brings the golden opportunity to makes products, tools and processes better. The constant pursuit of excellence is simply enjoyable.
What are you looking forward to over the next six months?
I would like to see GKD in an upper step of its actual quality system. That will deliver higher quality products and services and exceed our customer expectations.
Tell us about those phrases you picked to describe yourself!
Relaxed – My close friends tend to say that, in the past, I was a kind of turtle!
Positive as a proton – I truly believe that failures are key steps that lead to excellence.
Cycling lover – I normally do an hour of cycling 3 to 5 days a week (yes, even in winter!).
Travelling football fan – I use football as an excuse to travel. For example, I’ve been to the last two FIFA World Cups in Russia and Brazil.
Tolerant – I would hear your opinion even if I believe the opposite. In the worst-case scenario I would just agree to disagree!
We hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about Juan. You can get to know more of our team members below.
