Over twenty years of focus on workplace safety.

1992
GKD Technik is founded by the now Director of Innovation, Nick Ground. With first activities in the supply and installation of technology products. Nick's expertise in Rated Capacity Indicators soon sees the business focus on applying the technology to lorry loader cranes, the first full system is deployed in 1994 to BT via Atlas Cranes.

1994 - 1997
As the Rated Capacity Indicator system is developed, known at the time as the BACS (Boom Angle Compensation System). A hugely successful solution with over 3,000 systems sold and installed on lorry loader cranes. In 1995 the THW1 and THW4 are introduced to the range both Rated Capacity Indicators for Palfinger cranes.

1998
The first GKD Rated Capacity Indicator system for installation onto hydraulic excavators is developed and sold.

2002
GKD Technik division launches an advanced Total Moment Indicator system for use on long reach excavators and demolition machines. The company name changes to GKD Europe Ltd to reflect European business standing.

2005
GKD Technik develops an advanced Rated Capacity Indicator for use on Road Rail Vehicles (RRV’s). Version one of the 3RCi and is one of the first on the market to receive Network Rail approval for this technology.

2005
Recognising that the civil construction market could benefit from a more comprehensive safety solution, GKD develop the 2RCi for excavators. As a result, GKD sees increasing traction in its global customer base.

2008
The first GKD overseas distributor, SIA&YEO, is appointed sole GKD distributor in Singapore where the 2RCI has become increasingly popular. They remain the longest serving overseas distributor.

2009
The business focuses on safety control solutions and develops SlewGuard, a slew limiting system for hydraulic excavators and cranes. GKD also develops the first height limiting solution to join the product range, the 1HLI, and the Incline Alert system for the civil engineering and construction industry.

2010
Recognising that closing rail lines was no longer viable, GKD developed the first Rated Capacity Indication with full envelope control. SpaceGuard was the first solution to receive dual system verification for Adjacent Line Open (ALO) and Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) working.

2012
GKD utilise radio frequency technology to develop the first Proximity Warning System in the UK: SiteGuard. Successful initial trials by Network Rail concluded that SiteGuard was an effective safety control product.

2015
GKD undergoes a rebrand and rename to GKD Technologies Ltd. This includes changing the name of the proximity warning system to SensorZone and the name of the machine control system range to SensorSafe.
